Sorry!!! I’m still alive! I started a new job and it’s been nuts. I’m hoping to find a better balance with work soon so I can devote more time to blogging and writing in general. Also, I know it’s not Sunday, but let’s talk about Chopping Mall anyway!
The first true b movie on my list of favorites, Chopping Mall is far from perfect. It’s cheesy and pure 80’s movie from the overuse of slang to the ridiculous ways they took on the movie’s villains, which just so happened to be malfunctioning robot security guards, it’s a total b movie.
The movie starts with a bunch of young adults planning on having a party in one of the stores after closing and ends with most of the cast having died in more and more gruesome yet frankly ridiculous ways. However, our two main characters, Allison and Ferdy, are genuinely well written characters that have wonderful on-screen chemistry with each other. You find yourself rooting for the couple the whole movie.
The acting and sets are aren’t the greatest, and the gore mostly looks like ketchup, but it’s a fun plot with interesting, likeable characters and a handful of silly murder robots. What’s not to love!
I will warn you, there is a lot of nudity, mainly toplessness from most of the female cast, so if that’s something you wish to avoid, I wouldn’t recommend this movie. But, if that isn’t something that isn’t a problem for you, you should totally watch this one!
